Filing for May elections underway

Time to file for city council positions.

Applications for a position on the upcoming City of Orange, West Orange, Vidor and Pinehurst regular Election ballot is now.

“The General Election is in May,” Interim City Manager Kelvin Knauf said. “The seats up for election are 2, 4, and 5.”

Brad Childs, Annette Pernell, and Bill Mello currently hold those positions.

Filing dates are between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Jan. 16 – Feb. 15, 2019.

To file the application in person at City of Orange, 803 West Green Ave., Room 201 in Orange. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. and is closed from 12 noon – 1 p.m. for lunch, Monday through Friday.

At this time, Brad Childs has filed for Single Member District 2, a seat he currently holds.

City of West Orange will have three positions on the ballot: two aldermen and the mayor’s seat. Frances Doddy-Lopez PhD and Randy Branch are the two Aldermen who seats are up for election. Branch was appointed midterm to replace Carl Thibodaux who was appointed Municipal Judge.

Application packets can be picked up at West Orange City Hall, 2700 Western Ave. in West Orange.

The city of Pinehurst is also holding elections for three Alderpersons for the seats currently held by Dan Mohon, T.W. Permenter, and Sarah McClendon.

To file in person, go to City of Pinehurst City Hall located at 2497 Martin Luther King Jr Drive in Pinehurst.

To mail in one’s ballot send to City of Pinehurst, Attn:

City Secretary, 2497 Martin Luther King Jr Drive, Orange, Texas 77630.

The City of Vidor is seeking to fill the Mayoral seat as well as Wards 1, 4, and 6.

Any eligible candidate who is interested in serving on the Vidor City Council as Mayor or as a Council Member may obtain a Candidate Packet from the City Secretary, Vicki Watson, at Vidor City Hall, 1395 North Main St. in Vidor.

Candidates filing for the General Election must return their completed, signed, and notarized application packet to Ms. Watson, or her designee, at Vidor City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.  The last day to file is Friday, February 15, 2019.

Filing for School Board positions are also underway.

At this time, for Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD School Board, Josh Fisher and Dr. Chris Riedel have filed in Position 6, currently held by Rex Peveto, who has served on the Board since 2010
