LC-M’s Burke nabs H-J Invitational win

BEAUMONT — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville boys golf team cranked up their 2019 golf season on Monday at the Hardin-Jefferson Invitational at Beaumont Country Club and standout Jack Burke picked up where he left off last year by winning the first tournament of the year.

Burke fired a 77 and won in a playoff over his buddy Collin Todora of Beaumont Kelly, who also fired a 77.

Hardin-Jefferson’s Colin Leitzke (78) was third, followed by Port Neches-Groves’ Timothly Feemster (78) and Buna’s Caleb Folmar (79).

Hardin-Jefferson won the team title with a 315 followed by Kelly (331), PN-G ‘A’ (338), LC-M (353), Nederland (370), West Brook (370), Buna (375), Vidor (375), PN-G ‘B’ (383) and Bridge City (484).

Also for the Bears Mason Sterling fired a 85 followed by teammates Jack Tindel (87), Wyatt Wozniak (104) and Travis Love (104).

The Bears’ next tournament will be the Jasper Bulldog Invitational at Rayburn Country on Jan. 28.
