PRESS RELEASE — On Friday, January 11^th, 2019 at 12:51 AM, the Lake Charles Police Department responded to 1213 North Martin Luther King, Raceway, in reference to a weapons complaint.

The caller advised a man entered into the store and threatened him with a gun.

Within 3 minutes and approximately a block away from the Raceway, Lake Charles Police Officers located the suspect, and an Officer involved shooting was the result, leaving the reported man with the gun dead.

The Lake Charles Police Department Officer was not injured.

The Louisiana State Police was notified to conduct the follow up investigation.
