Big second quarter propels Bears past Cardinals

BRIDGE CITY — Going on a 15-2 spurt in the second quarter helped enable the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears to a 62-45 District 22-4A road victory over the Bridge City Cardinals Tuesday night at Cardinal Gym.

The Bears (10-15, 1-2) nailed down their first 22-4A win of the season in the process while the Cardinals dropped to 9-11 overall and 1-3 in district.

Braden Bridges led the Bear attack with a game-high 26 points while teammate Jackson Smith filtered in 14.

The Bears will host WO-S Friday while the Cardinals head to Lumberton.
