PRESS RELEASE — Happy New Year everyone. Let’s have a great 2019.

We have been working an Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Turns out there is three victims here in Newton County and possibly one in Jasper County. The man is in jail and bond has been set at $150,000 on each case. Great job Deputy Owens.

Mr. Joe Dan Talley’s uncle was shot and killed in 1927 while on duty as a Deputy in Newton County. Mr. Talley wanted to have a monument put up for Fallen Newton County Officers. He paid for the monument honoring the fallen officers. Sheriff Dave C. Humphreys, Deputy Joseph Obie Talley and Patrolman Charlie Gibson, Newton Police Department. Thanks Joe Dan. You the man.

Deputy Besser saw a vehicle towing a motorcycle that didn’t look right. Besser established probable cause and stopped the vehicle. The motorcycle was stolen in Jefferson County. One in jail. Good job Deputy Besser.

Received a 911 call about a lady setting on a vehicle yelling for help. She was forced back in vehicle. The vehicle went towards Louisiana. We notified Louisiana. They advised us they arrested two and the female was sent to hospital. She had been kidnapped in Orange County.

Gotta go. Thought for the week – All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt.

Ya’ll have a great week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
