Carey to play in 2019 Winter Games All-American Softball Team

Makenna Carey, an 8th grader at Bridge City Middle School, made the All-American Softball Team for the 2019 Winter Games hosted by Softball Youth in Orlando, Florida.

Games will be played Jan 2-5 at the Boombah Sports Complex.

Makenna, 13, is a pitcher and 2nd baseman for the 14U GT Shockers Gold team coached by Kevin Shivers. For the All-American games, Makenna will be playing on the class of 2023 Eagles with 11 other girls.

There are girls from Hawaii, Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio and other states on her team. She will be playing against nine other teams with girls from all over the nation.

Softball Youth is the nation’s fastest-growing network for providing media coverage and additional services to the youth fastpitch market. The premier event is the Softball Youth All-American Games, which will be held in Orlando North from January 2-5, 2019. Just as Baseball Youth brand covers the youth baseball market, Softball Youth aims to become the industry leader in youth softball. Softball Youth is owned and operated by Athletx Sports Group, according to the official website.

The Eagles will play the Sparklers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3. Freedom will challenge the Eagles at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4 and the next game set between Eagles and Firecrackers at 1:30 p.m.  Friday, Jan. 4.
