WO-S grad Miller, Crusaders bringing home NCAA D3 National title

SHENANDOAH — It was celebration time for former West Orange-Stark standout K.J. Miller and his University of Mary Hardin-Baylor teammates as the Crusaders claimed the NCAA Division III National Championship with a 24-16 victory over Mount Union at Woodforest Bank Stadium Friday night.

Miller, the Crusaders (15-0) leading receiver for the season going in, certainly played a key role in the win over Mount Union (14-1)

Miller hauled in a 16-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jase Hammack with 9:46 remaining to give the Crusaders a 24-13 edge.

Miller caught four passes for 53 yards. He also had a huge 28-yard catch in the victory and had two kickoff returns for 41 yards.

Both teams finished with exactly 303 total yards apiece. Crusader quarterback Jase Hammack completed 11-of-19 passes for 147 yards. Receiver TJ Josey had five catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.

Crusader back Markeith Miller finished with 90 yards and a TD on 25 carries.

Miller caught 51 passes for 622 yards and five TDs for the season. He returned 26 punts for a stunning 619 yards and three TDs and had 10 kickoff returns for 248 yards.
