Bobcats fight off scrappy Rebels by a dozen

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Bobcats got past the scrappy Evadale Rebels 57-45 in non-district action at Bobcat Gym Friday night.
The Bobcats jumped on the Rebels early with a 25-11 first-quarter lead. The Rebels clawed back to within 30-26 at intermission but the Bobcats regained the momentum and outscored Evadale 27-19 in the second half to nail down the win.
Valentin Catt led a balanced Bobcat offense with 12 points, nine rebounds, eight blocked shots and four steals.
Coy Bryant and Tyrone Waggoner filtered in 11 points apiece while Kaiden DuBose chimed in with seven points and Logan Risinger had six.
Waggoner led the Bobcats with 12 rebounds while Risinger, Cade Prejean and Heston each pulled boards. Waggoner and DuBose each had five assists.
The Bobcats will open up District 22-3A play at home Tuesday against perennial district favorite East Chambers.
