Chester M. Boone, Jr.

Chester M. Boone, Jr., 81, of Hemphill, Texas, passed away on December 12, 2018, in Lufkin, Texas.

Born in Houston, Texas, on October 6, 1937, he was the son of Chester Boone, Sr. and Myrtle Padon Boone. Chester proudly served his country in the United States Navy retiring after 20 years as Chief Electrician’s Mate, CPO. He went on to work and retire as an electrician for JM Huber Phillips after 17 years. He adored his wife who was the love of his life, and his family dearly. He especially loved being “Paw Paw” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chester’s best friend was his dog, Carmen. He was an avid fan of Texas Longhorn football and Astros baseball. Chester loved traveling, especially to the beach, riding his motorcycle, and playing drums at his church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Boone, Sr. and wife Sue and Myrtle Padon Bruner and husband Oscar; daughter, Cindy Marie Boone; and his daughter-in-law, Dana Boone.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 47 years, Roberta Boone; children, John Boone, of McKinney, Shirley Boone, of Savannah, GA, Robert Boone and wife Wendi, of Vidor, Angela Lidji and husband Scott, of Dallas, Jody Boone and wife Vonda, of Buna, and Jeff Gamble and wife Lynn, of Orange; grandchildren, Cody, Christine, Catherine, Claire, Crystal, Cory, Cameron, Alex, Brianna, AshLynn, Gavin, Joey, Bekah, Chris, Ryan, Matthew, Brittany, Daniel, Danielle, Lauren, and Casey; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas, officiated by Reverend Daniel Serenil. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Community Fellowship Church on Hwy 3315 in Fairmount, Texas.
