UPDATED: Shooting suspect in custody

At approximately 12:23 pm, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a male subject had been shot in the lower leg area and needed assistance.  Deputies and first responders were dispatched to the Texaco at the intersection of Hwy 62 and Hwy 12 in Mauriceville, where the victim and 911 caller were located.  Medics attended to the 45 w/m year old victim, while deputies and other area law enforcement officers saturated the Greenwood Acres neighborhood and quickly located the 32 year old w/m suspect.  The suspect, who was known by the victim, was taken into custody and is currently being transported to the Orange County Correctional Facility.

The victim was said to be in stable condition and was flown by medical helicopter to Christus St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont.

The shooter has been identified as Joshua Taylor, 32.

Taylor was booked into the Orange County Correctional Facility on four charges and expected to be arraigned on Thursday and have bonds set on each charge.

Taylor was charged with unlawful restraint, two counts of deadly conduct ,and aggravated assault with a firearm.

Unlawful restraint is a Class A misdemeanor and the other charges are felony offenses.
