Project Gold

Is your child struggling with anxiety, depression or behavioral problems? Did they experience Hurricane Harvey? Project Gold provides evidence-based mental health services for children and adolescents in your area.

We are looking for children ages 5-17 affected by Hurricane Harvey or its aftermath who currently exhibit anxiety, depression and/or behavioral problems. Therapy will be provided using telehealth services (using a Wi-Fi enabled computer or phone) directly in your home. Elaborate Sale

Thrift and Gift’s Elaborate Sale offers $1 per garment continues thru Friday, Dec. 14. More added each day. Bridge City Police Department Bikes for Kids

Bridge City Police Department is once again hosting its Bike’s for Kids event on Saturday, December 22, 2018.  This year 50 children will receive a bicycle, helmet, Christmas stocking, and toys.  Items needed for this event are:  Toys (all ages including non-bike riding ages, for the siblings of kids receiving bikes), gift wrapping items, and small indoor blue Christmas lights.  Volunteers will also be needed the day of the event.  If you would like to donate, sponsor a child, or volunteer the day of the event, contact Detective Brittany Hilton at 409-735-5028.  Donations should be dropped off at: Bridge City Police Department, 110 Rachal Avenue, Bridge City, TX 77611.

 

Christmas Market

Gifts, Etc., located in the Baptist Hospital Outpatient Center is holding a Christmas Market 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday – Friday, November and December. The Service League of Orange operates the shop with all proceeds benefiting Orange County charities.

 

Fly-Ins

Orange County Radio Control Club meets each Tuesday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the club’s airfield located at 10623 Farm to Market Road 1442 in Orange. Guests are welcome as long as club members are present. Learn more about building and flying remote-controlled airplanes with other enthusiasts.

 

GOALS

The Greater Orange Area Literacy Services (GOALS) is now offering Reading, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Graduate High School Education (GED) tutoring to all adults 16 and older at no cost.  Volunteer tutors are willing to meet once or twice a week at various locations.

NAACP meeting

NAACP meets at 7 p.m., every fourth Thursday, at the WOCCISD Administration Building located at 902 West Park Ave. in Orange. All are encouraged to attend and join. To join, contact Franklin Gans at 409-221-8438.

 

Friends of the Bridge City Public Library meeting

Friends of the Bridge City Public Library meets once a month on the fourth Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Join today for only $5 per year. As a member of the Friends, you can help with fundraisers, the summer reading program, decorate Library for the holidays, scrapbook events from the year and Bayou Buddy Storytime.
