Orange County senior citizens meeting

Orange County senior citizens are meeting on the 2nd Monday every month at 9:30 a. m. at Salvation Army Bldg. on the corner of MLK and Highway 90 in Orange. Bingo, Prizes, Potluck Lunch. All are invited to attend. For more information please call, Dermal at 730-5722.

 

Project Gold

Is your child struggling with anxiety, depression or behavioral problems? Did they experience Hurricane Harvey? Project Gold provides evidence-based mental health services for children and adolescents in your area.

We are looking for children ages 5-17 affected by Hurricane Harvey or its aftermath who currently exhibit anxiety, depression and/or behavioral problems. Therapy will be provided using telehealth services (using a Wi-Fi enabled computer or phone) directly in your home. Bridge City Police Department Bikes for Kids

Bridge City Police Department is once again hosting its Bike’s for Kids event on Saturday, December 22, 2018.  This year 50 children will receive a bicycle, helmet, Christmas stocking, and toys.  Items needed for this event are:  Toys (all ages including non-bike riding ages, for the siblings of kids receiving bikes), gift wrapping items, and small indoor blue Christmas lights.  Volunteers will also be needed the day of the event.  If you would like to donate, sponsor a child, or volunteer the day of the event, contact Detective Brittany Hilton at 409-735-5028.  Donations should be dropped off at: Bridge City Police Department, 110 Rachal Avenue, Bridge City, TX 77611.

 

2018 Mister and Miss Christmas Pageant

The 2018 Mister and Miss Christmas Pageant will be Dec. 8, 2018. Attire is Christmas Wear. Girls ages 0-18 years and Boys 0 – 5 years. Young Miss Queen will receive a $200 scholarship. Categories include: Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Smile, Most Photogenic and Prettiest Hair. Registration is $50. Christmas Market

Gifts, Etc., located in the Baptist Hospital Outpatient Center is holding a Christmas Market 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday – Friday, November, and December. The Service League of Orange operates the shop with all proceeds benefiting Orange County charities.

 

Fly-Ins

Orange County Radio Control Club meets each Tuesday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the club’s airfield located at 10623 Farm to Market Road 1442 in Orange. Guests are welcome as long as club members are present. Learn more about building and flying remote-controlled airplanes with other enthusiasts.

 

Intro to Beekeeping class

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office in conjunction with the Orange Apiary Committee is having an Intro to Beekeeping class on December 8, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m.  This is a free class and will cover the topics of: Equipment, Personal Protective Gear, Honey & Hive Production, and Source for Bees.  Snacks will be provided.  This will be held at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center at 11475 FM 1442, Orange, TX.  Please RSVP by November 21, by calling the Extension Office at 409-882-7010.

 

GOALS

The Greater Orange Area Literacy Services (GOALS) is now offering Reading, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Graduate High School Education (GED) tutoring to all adults 16 and older at no cost.  Volunteer tutors are willing to meet once or twice a week at various locations.

Hand Quilting Demonstration
