Lula N. Burch

Lula N. Burch, 82, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers.

Lula was born in Duson, LA to Gabriel and Lena Navarre and has resided in Vinton for over 66 years. She was  a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Vinton and a member Catholic Daughters of America. She was a business partner every step of the way with her late husband Rodney. They owned and operated Vinton Nursery, Inc., Best Western Motel in Vinton, Kings Inn Motel in Orange, TX, and Sunrise East and Trace Apartments. For 25 years, Lula and Rodney enjoyed their summers in Estes Park, CO spending time with their children and grandchildren and where they developed many new friendships along the way. She was known to be hardworking, fun loving and a gentle spirit. Lula was a reflection of Proverbs 31:10-31, was loved by everyone she met and will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her four daughters, Peggy Fontenot and her husband Kendall of Eunice, Linda Walter and husband Ted of Sulphur, Diane Conner and husband Tim of Vinton, and Connie Granger and husband Richard of Vinton; one brother, Mike Navarre of Sulphur; three sisters, Verna Kennedy of Pasadena,TX, Verlie Porter of Vinton and Melba Trosclair of Sulphur; grandchildren; Bradley Fontenot, Amanda Lejeune, Leslie Benetatos, Laura Beth Dougherty, Chase Domingue, Caleb Conner, Heather Hardin, Hayley Williford, Hunter Hardin, Matthew Granger and Jacob Granger; and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Rodney Allen Burch; grandson, Roman Walter; brother, Curtis Navarre; and her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Vinton. Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss. Visitation will be held 4:30 – 8:30pm in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton  with a recitation of the Rosary at 6pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday at 9 – 10:15am at the funeral home.  Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com
