WEST ORANGE — A Christmas Tree Lighting Celebration, an annual event for the city of West Orange, is 6 p.m. Monday at the West Orange Community Center, 2700 Western Ave., West Orange.
West Orange Mayor Roy McDonald will welcome the public before turning the floor over to Judge Carl Thibodeaux for the annual reading of ‘The Cajun Night Before Christmas’, a tradition for the area.
Afterward, residents will meet outside at the City’s Christmas tree to sing carols.
McDonald, in the past, has asked the children to help with the countdown, with the city park and tree lighting as the youngsters reach zero.
Santa Claus will make an appearance as refreshments are served after the tree lighting.
The event is open to the public.
