Bridge City Police Department Bikes for Kids
Bridge City Police Department is once again hosting its Bike’s for Kids event on Saturday, December 22, 2018. This year 50 children will receive a bicycle, helmet, Christmas stocking, and toys. Items needed for this event are Toys (all ages including non-bike riding ages, for the siblings of kids receiving bikes), gift wrapping items, and small indoor blue Christmas lights. Volunteers will also be needed the day of the event. If you would like to donate, sponsor a child, or volunteer the day of the event, contact Detective Brittany Hilton at 409-735-5028. Donations should be dropped off at Bridge City Police Department, 110 Rachal Avenue, Bridge City, TX 77611.
2018 Mister and Miss Christmas Pageant
The 2018 Mister and Miss Christmas Pageant will be Dec. 8, 2018. Attire is Christmas Wear. Girls ages 0-18 years and Boys 0 – 5 years. Young Miss Queen will receive a $200 scholarship. Categories include Prettiest Eyes, Prettiest Smile, Most Photogenic and Prettiest Hair. Registration is $50. Christmas Market
Gifts, Etc., located in the Baptist Hospital Outpatient Center is holding a Christmas Market 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday – Friday, November and December. The Service League of Orange operates the shop with all proceeds benefiting Orange County charities.
Fly-Ins
Orange County Radio Control Club meets each Tuesday and Saturday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the club’s airfield located at 10623 Farm to Market Road 1442 in Orange. Guests are welcome as long as club members are present. Learn more about building and flying remote-controlled airplanes with other enthusiasts.
Deep East Texas Archeological Society
The Deep East Texas Archeological Society will hold its annual Christmas party/impromptu auction at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018, at the Iris and Anne Howard Civic Center on 213 East Court Street in downtown Newton, Texas 75966. Guests and members will be provided free of charge a free full meal; one of the members will be cooking two briskets with four fresh, just made-up sauces. Members are asked to bring something of value, preferably archeological but not necessarily so, to auction off at the party. The funds raised help the Society to pay its operations and for speakers in 2019. The public is invited to attend. Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records
This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District’s (LCMCISD’s) intent to destroy the Special Education records of students born in the year 1990, who are no longer receiving Special Education services. These records will be destroyed in accordance with state law unless the parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student notifies the school district otherwise.
Special Education records, which have been collected by LCMCISD related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of Special Education in the District, must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of five years after Special Education services have ended for the student. Special Education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, completes his or her educational program at age 22, or moves from the district.
After five years, the records are no longer useful to the District, but they may be useful to the parent/guardian or former student in applying for Social Security benefits, rehabilitation services, college entrance, etc. The parent/guardian or eligible (adult) student may request the records in writing or in person at the following address:

Intro to Beekeeping class
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office in conjunction with the Orange Apiary Committee is having an Intro to Beekeeping class on December 8, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check-in will be at 8:30 a.m. This is a free class and will cover the topics of: Equipment, Personal Protective Gear, Honey & Hive Production, and Source for Bees. Snacks will be provided. This will be held at the Orange County Convention and Expo Center at 11475 FM 1442, Orange, TX. Please RSVP by November 21, by calling the Extension Office at 409-882-7010.
GOALS
The Greater Orange Area Literacy Services (GOALS) is now offering Reading, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Graduate High School Education (GED) tutoring to all adults 16 and older at no cost. Volunteer tutors are willing to meet once or twice a week at various locations.

Crisis Counseling Program
Southeast Texas Disaster Assistance and Crisis Response Services through Region 5 Education Service Center are offering assistance with identifying needs and resources as well as referrals for available disaster assistance resources and crisis counseling for those struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. CASA informational meeting
The second Tuesday of each month, CASA holds an information meeting to answer questions on how to become a CASA representative. The meetings are at 6 p.m. at the CASA office located at 2120 Gloria Drive in Orange. To reserve a seat, call 409-886-2272.
Orange County senior citizens meeting
