The big Class 4A Region III Division II Regional Semifinal football playoff game between the West Orange-Stark Mustangs (8-4) and the Jasper Bulldogs (12-0) will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Lamar University’s Provost-Umphrey Stadium.

The Mustangs, on a six-game winning streak, have playoff wins over Huntington (76-3) and Sweeny (21-3). The Bulldogs have defeated Hamshire-Fannett (49-14) and Bellville (13-0).

The Bulldogs defeated the Mustangs 34-24 in a non-district battle in Jasper earlier this season.

This will be the eighth meeting between the two Southeast Texas powerhouses with WO-S holding a 6-1 advantage. Their last playoff meeting was in 2013 when the Mustangs prevailed 18-16 in the regional semifinals.

The WO-S-Jasper winner will face either Silsbee (8-4) or Giddings (11-1) in the 4A Region III Division II Finals next week.
