Jalen Juwan Hardin, 22, was charged with multiple warrants, probation violation, unlawful possession of a firearm, and possession of marijuana on Monday.

Orange Police Department Detectives received information of Hardin possibly staying at a hotel at the 2600 block of Interstate 10.

As officers were knocking on the door of the room Hardin was in, they could smell marijuana emitting from in and around the room, according to a police report.

When the door was finally opened, Hardin and another individual were detained without incident.

While law enforcement was checking the room for possible other occupants, they discovered a small concealable gun holster but no weapon.

As the officers were searching for the weapon, they discovered a cellophane bag contenting what officers believed was marijuana.

Upon further searching, multiple cellophane bags containing marijuana were located in the bathroom. Upon further inspection of the toilet tank, marijuana and a firearm were discovered in the toilet tank.

“The firearm and marijuana that was located in the motel room 210 belonged to me, no other person,” Hardin said in a statement to police according to a police report.

Hardin was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana greater than 4 ounces and six warrants. The bond on each of the warrants was set at $3,000 each.
