GOACoC extends deadline for accepting nominees

The Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce has extended the deadline for accepting nominations for the 2018 Citizen of the Year, 2018 Non-Profit Community Service Award, and 2018 Business Community Service Award. The chamber will accept applications until Noon, Monday, Nov. 12. Awards will be presented at the Annual Dinner at 6 p.m. on December 13, 2018.

To nominate someone for Citizen of the Year award, a detailed written resume’ outlining the activities of the person being nominated must be submitted to:

Citizen of the Year Committee – CONFIDENTIAL

This award will be open to any resident of Orange County, male or female. They may be, but not need be, a member of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

They should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the individual over the last three years.

The award should not be presented to paid professional leaders such as City Manager, County Judges and others in this category. If circumstances warrant, an Honorable Mention could be given to a person(s) in this category.

The nominations are by secret ballot to preserve the enigma of the winner. If nominees are in a runoff, then only the Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board and President will know the results until it is publicly announced at the Annual Awards Meeting.

Final selection of the recipient of the award will be made by the selection committee. The Chairman of the Board will select the chairs of the committee. The committee chairman will select committee members, with a minimum of three.

If you know someone who has served the Orange area community that would qualify as a 2018 Citizen of the Year Award recipient, please send your nomination, giving personal information and details of the work done by such a person.

To nominate for the 2018 Business Community Service award, the nomination must include the name of the business, its location, and details of activities/reasons for the nominations for this award.

2018 Business Community Service Award

The award is open to businesses located in the Greater Orange Area and is to be a member of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce. The Greater Orange Area represents Orange, Pinehurst, West Orange, Mauriceville and Orangefield.

The business should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the business over the last five years.

The Award should not be presented to any governmental entity, Chamber, or similar entity.

The nominations are by secret ballot to preserve the enigma of the winner. Only the Committee Chair, Chairman of the Board and President will know the results until it is publicly announced on the designated date.

Nominations will be accepted through a specified time period.

The selection committee will make the final selection of the recipient of the award. The Chairman of the Board will select the chair of the committee. The chairman will select committee members, with a maximum of three. All Committee members should be affiliated with the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

The award is open to any Non-Profit Organization with a 501 (c) 3 tax status located in the Greater Orange Area. The Greater Orange Area represents Orange, Pinehurst, West Orange, Mauriceville and Orangefield.

The Non-Profit Organization is to be a member of the Greater Orange Area Chamber of Commerce.

The Non-Profit Organization should be selected on the basis of their activities during the year for which they are being selected. However, the committee can take into account the activities of the organization over the last five years.

The Award should not be presented to any governmental entity, Chamber, or similar entity.
