Panthers get past Bobcats, 35-17

ANAHUAC – The Anahuac Panthers took down the Orangefield Bobcats 35-17 in District 12-3A Division I play Friday night to wrap up the regular season for both teams.
The Bobcats finish the year 5-5 overall and 2-5 in 12-3A play while the Panthers wound up 4-6 overall and 3-4 in district action.
The Panthers jumped out to a 7-0 lead with 8:54 left in the first quarter when running back Tyrone Wilson scooted in from a yard out.
Kicker Derek Glaze pulled the Bobcats to within 7-3 when he nailed a 29-yard field goal with 6:27 in the first quarter.
Anahuac free safety Foster Kreuzer made it a 14-3 game when he picked off a Bobcat pass and bolted 91 yards for a touchdown with 10:21 remaining in the second quarter.
Kreuzer got into the scoring act again for the Panthers when he hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ski Wilpitz on third-and-35 to make it 21-3 with 2:05 in the half.
Clayson Choate, however, got things going for the Bobcats on the ensuing kickoff as he stung the Panthers enroute to a 86-yard kickoff return for the touchdown on the ensuing kickoff to trim it to 21-9 with 1:48 in the half.
The Panthers answered with 6:39 left in the third when Corenthos Hill scored on a 50-yard bomb to up the lead to 27-9.
Orangefield was able to trim it to 27-17 with 3:16 remaining when back Chase Broussard bolted into the end zone from three yards out and Kadeon Evans hauled in the two-point conversion pass.
Wilson then put the Panthers up 35-17 with a 43-yard touchdown jaunt.
