Lady Cats split in Lumberton tourney; Lady Cards smash Evadale

LUMBERTON — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats competed in the Lumberton Tournament Thursday and split a pair of games.

The Lady Bobcats defeated Cleveland 61-24. Faith Fregia led the way with 31 points and six steals. Jolie Ponfick chimed in with 12 points. Jacey Bourque had seven points, four steals and four assists. Jayme Deutsch had five rebounds and two blocks while Tatum Garlington had fou points and seven rebounds.

Orangefield fell to Class 5A power Barbers Hill 60-42. Kylie Elkins had nine points and four rebounds. Ponfick had seven points and four boards. Bourque contributed seven points, four rebounds and three assists while Garlington had seven points and five rebounds. The Lady Bobcats will continue in the tourney Friday and Saturday.

BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City  Lady Cardinals hammered Evadale 43-14 Thursday at Rebel Gym. Madison Fischer and Kyndall Harrison led the way with 10 points apiece while Hannah Wiegreffe yanked down 10 rebounds. The Lady Cardinals will be at the Nederland Tournament next week.
