The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School Battlin’ Bear Band got quite a sendoff on their way to State Marching Contest on Tuesday morning.
City of Orange Mayor, Larry Spears, spoke to the band before loading buses, telling them how proud the community is of them and that they will be representing Orange as they perform tomorrow in the Alamo Dome. His words of encouragement were well-received by students, staff and the army of parents who act as tech crew, getting pit instruments and props on and off the field.
The buses drove by the schools that were on the route to Interstate 10, accompanied by law enforcement to Farm to Market Road 1442. Students and staff were able to line the sidewalks and playgrounds to give the band an encouraging sendoff.
