ORANGEFIELD — Looking to finish the season out strong, Orangefield will try to knock off the Warren Warriors Friday night as the Bobcats play their last home game of the season.

The Bobcats (4-4, 1-4) will be looking to end a three-game District 12-3A Division I losing streak when they welcome in the winless Warriors (0-8, 0-5).

Orangefield is coming off a tough 43-14 road loss at the hands of first-place Woodville last week while the Warriors dropped a 38-6 decision to Kirbyville as the Wildcats snared their first win of the season.

Warren has been outscored 343-74 on the season and 267-26 in 12-3A action.

The Warriors will check into the game with 12-3A’s lowest ranked offense and defense.

The Warriors are only averaging 174 yards a game on offense. They are definitely sparked by running back Devon Hadnot, who leads the Warren ground arsenal with 544 yards and five TDs on 136 tough carries. Quarterback Brody Brockman has completed 16-of-40 passes for 179 yards with just one touchdown and five interceptions. Receiver Ryan Sharp has 10 receptions for 109 yards and one TD as the Warriors will face a Bobcat defense that has allowed 262.3 yards a game.

The Bobcats will be playing their fifth straight game without the services of standout senior quarterback Mason Gonzales, who they lost to a knee injury in their first 12-3A game against Buna.

Sophomore quarterback Gunner Jones has filled in admirably for an offense that is averaging 263.3 yards a contest, 228.0 on the ground. Jones has completed 14-of-34 passes for 187 yards with two TDs and one pick.

Senior fullback Blake Bradley leads the Bobcat ground attack with 401 yards and six TDs on 75 carries while tailback Heston Pucket has over 300 yards on the ground.

The Bobcats will face a Warriors’ defense that has allowed 355.6 yards a game, 247.3 on the ground.

Orangefield will wrap up its regular season next week on the road against Anahuac.

The top four spots in 12-3A right now with two weeks left in the season are controlled by Woodville (8-0, 5-0), East Chambers (7-1, 4-1), Hardin (7-1, 4-1) and Buna (6-2, 3-2).

Other 12-3A games this week include East Chambers at Anahuac (3-5, 2-3), Hardin at Buna, and Woodville at Kirbyville.
