LITTLE CYPRESS — It’s not how you start, it is how you finish.

The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears are certainly proof of that.

After starting out the first half of the District 22-4A season with a 3-3 mark, the Lady Bears were the hottest team down the stretch in the second half, going 5-1 and capping it by defeating the Silsbee Lady Tigers 25-12, 25-16, 26-24 at The Grove Tuesday night.

The win pushed the Lady Bears (24-16, 8-4) past the Lady Tigers for the third-place playoff berth and the win was even sweeter with it being on Senior Night.

Renna Toomey led the Lady Bears with eight kills while Ally White had seven and Morgan Weaver, Raley Broussard and Chelsea Perry added four apiece.

Weaver set the offense up well with 19 assists while Caitlin Woods had six. Krystal Lester led the way with 20 digs. Toomey had 17 digs while Raley Broussard had 16 and Waver 15.

White notched six blocks while Perry chimed in with three. Weaver, White and Lester each had three aces.
