PRESS RELEASE — The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is expecting rain over the next couple of days. A weak low pressure area or trough will move from the Texas coast on Wednesday to the south central Louisiana coast on Thursday. The heaviest rain is expected to occur Wednesday afternoon through early Thursday morning. One to two inches of rain is expected in central Louisiana, while two to three inches is expected along and south of the I-10 corridor of southeast Texas, southwest Louisiana, and south central Louisiana. Where locally higher amounts of three to six inches of rain occurs, people will see brief periods of street flooding.
Along the coast, tides are running around half a foot to a foot above normal, and that will continue through Wednesday night. This may cause some minor coastal flooding during periods of high tides. It will also slow down drainage of the rainfall for parishes near the coast.
