Falcons fly past Cardinals

HUFFMAN – The Huffman Falcons exploded in the first half and went on to defeat the Bridge City Cardinals 41-16 in District 11-4A Division I action at Falcons Stadium Friday night.

The Falcons (3-4, 1-1) used a wide-open passing attack to thwart the Cardinals (1-6, 0-2).

The Falcons got a huge performance with their air attack, scoring on touchdowns passes of 20 yards three times and another that went for 45.

Huffman also scored on a 75-yard touchdown scamper and a two-yard run.

The Falcons led early 7-0 but the Cardinals responded when quarterback Cace Skinner connected with Jackson Tims on a 40-yard scoring toss.

Huffman then scored two unanswered touchdowns to snag a 21-7 lead.

The Cardinals inched within eight points when fullback Andy Lara muscled his way into the end zone from four yards out.

The Falcons then ran off three more scores, upping their lead to 41-13.

The Cardinals got a late field goal from standout kicker Oscar Carranza to trim it to 41-16.

The Cardinals will play host to the Lumberton Raiders next week while the Falcons visit Splendora to face the Wildcats.

Lumberton (4-3, 2-0) defeated Livingston (0-7, 0-2) 48-11 Friday night while Splendora (6-1, 2-0) defeated LC-M (2-5, 1-1) 38-34.
