Wreck sends four to hospital

PRESS RELEASE – On October 15, 2018, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash on State Hwy 62 in Orange County.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2012 Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on State Hwy 62.  A 2016 Ford Fusion, a 2006 Honda Accord and a 2010 Mazda passenger vehicle were all traveling northbound on State Hwy 62.  The driver of the Toyota was traveling at an unsafe speed for the wet road conditions and lost control.  The Toyota spun into the northbound traffic lane and struck the Ford.  The Toyota continued to spin and collided with the Honda.  After the second collision, the Honda was rear-ended by the Mazda passenger vehicle.

 The driver of the Ford, 18-year-old Aleena Bradley of Orange, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital.  Her injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

 The driver of the Ford, 25-year-old Cory Horton of Beaumont, was also transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

 The driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Joshua Alfaro of Kountze, was taken by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mazda, 51-year-old Richard Dowthitt of Houston, sustained injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene.  Dowthitt was transported by personal vehicle to seek treatment.  Dowthitt’s passenger, 46-year-old Oscar Hernandez of Houston, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

Bradley was issued a traffic citation for unsafe speed.
