The 2018 Texas Nonprofit Summit Series is coming to Orange in early November

Presented by the OneStar Foundation, the summit series for nonprofit employees and board members will begin Nov. 1 in Port Arthur and finish Nov. 2 at Lamar State College-Orange in Orange.

The summit aims to connect local community leaders with each other and provide education about available resources through several sessions where attendees can learn from some of Texas’ top nonprofit experts, according to Ann Starr, the conference coordinator.

‘Leadership in Trying Times: Staying True to Yourself While Staying the Course,” a keynote address by Francisco Gonima, owner and principle of Francisco Gonima Executive Coaching and Strategy, will be presented during the summit series.

Highlighted sessions with top experts include:

  • “The Nonprofit Effectiveness Network,” presented by Robin Llewellyn, Learning Capital’s learning and leadership manager;
  • “Board Member Recruitment and Engagement,” presented by Ronnie Hagerty, United Way of Greater Houston’s associate vice president of community relations;
  • “Challenge Everything: Charting a Strategic Course That’s Relevant, Agile and Inclusive,” presented by TD Smyers, United Way of Tarrant County’s president and CEO;
  • and “Top 5 Tips for Using Technology Effectively,” presented by Dorle Pickle, Creative Pickle’s founding principle and creative manager.

The summit begins Thursday, Nov. 1 at Robert A. “Bob” Bowers Civic Center, 3401 Cultural Center Drive in Port Arthur from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. The series continues Friday, Nov. 2 at J. Michael and Bridget Shahan Events Center at Lamar State College-Orange at 410 W. Front Ave. in Orange from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
