Golden K Kiwanis meeting

Golden K Kiwanis meets every Wed. from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the meeting room of the Salvation Army Building, corner of MLK and Strickland, across from the Shell and fire station.  The public is welcome to attend, and coffee is always served. Initiation of local 2018-19 officers and committee members will take place on a special induction. Juan J. Venegas, a 25-year-old Wienerschnitzel franchise owner in Orange, Texas, and Oceanside, California, will convey his amazing story to franchise owner success.  He recently assisted in the establishment of new Wienerschnitzel stores in Nederland and Lufkin, Texas.

 

Saturday, Oct. 20

Field of Plenty

The Field of Plenty will have a planting workday at 8 a.m. Saturday, October 20.  We will be planting the fall garden and digging sweet potatoes.  It is for volunteers as well as anyone in the community that wants to become a volunteer or to just help to make it possible to give fresh vegetables to those in need.  All of the produce from the Field of Plenty goes to Orange Christian Services to be added to the boxes of staples given those who qualify for food assistance.

 

Granger 5K

Granger Chevrolet is hosting the annual Granger 5K on Saturday, October 20 to benefit The United Way of Orange County. The event will be held at 2611 MacArthur Drive in Orange. Register early at www.granger5k.com

 

Cajun Festival

The 10th annual Cajun festival will be held at the V.F.W. Post-2775 beginning at 10 a.m. at 5303 16th Street in Orange.

 

Fundraiser

A fundraiser for the final costs for Reggie Allen Osbourne is from 1 p.m. – Midnight at Leaux’s Bayou Club located at 2210 Simmons Drive in Orange. The first band begins at 2 p.m. $20 entry fee for 9 Ball Tournament and $5 entry fee for Washer Tournament. Plate dinners also available for sale. Monday, Oct. 22

Crochet Class

Crochet Class at 6:30 p.m. at Orange First Church of the Nazarene, 3810 M.L.K. Jr. Drive in Orange. The class is in the Dining Room behind the church. (Left side of the building)

Please bring a skein of Sports Weight yarn and a G hook. We are working on squares to be assembled into an afghan. You may keep your squares or donate them back. Donated squares will be assembled and donated to a local charity in December.
