Bucs roll past Bobcats, 41-0

WINNIE — The Orangefield Bobcats absorbed a tough one Friday night, falling to the East Chambers Buccaneers 41-0 in District 12-3A Division I action Friday night.

The Bucs (5-1, 2-1) controlled the game throughout and jumped out to a 24-0 lead over the Bobcats (4-2, 1-2) by halftime.

Kicker Jose Chavez gave the Bucs a 3-0 lead with 8:15 left in the first quarter with a 22-yard field goal.

After a Bobcat fumble, East Chambers back Ernest Ceasar got loose on a 24-yard touchdown gallop to make it 10-0 with 7:08 in the first.

With 4:15 in the half, Bucs’ quarterback Kameron Smith teamed up with receiver Alejandro Lopez on a 32-yard scoring strike.

The Bucs scored again right before intermission when Ceasar got loose on a eight-yard score with just 0:29 left.

Running back Nolton Shelvin scored both of the Bucs’ touchdowns in the third quarter.

He found the end zone from 10 yards out with 7:57 remaining in the third and he scored again, this time from two yards out, four minutes and 35 seconds later.

Chavez put the final points on the board when he drilled a 31-yard field goal with 4:43 remaining in the game.

The Bobcats return home next week to take on the Hardin Hornets while the Bucs venture to Kirbyville to take on the Wildcats.

Hardin (5-1, 2-1) toppled Kirbyville (0-6, 0-3) 42-28 Friday night.
