Bobcats nab 22-3A CC title, Helm, Wrinkle notch wins

WARREN — Orangefield’s Maddison Helm and Payton Wrinkle each won first-place in their respective races at the District 22-3A Cross Country Championships held in Warren Wednesday.

The Bobcat boys also claimed the first-place team trophy and the Lady Bobcats earned the second-place team trophy. All will advance to the Class 3A Region III Cross Country Championships Oct. 22 in Huntsville.
Wrinkl won the boys 5K in 18 minutes and 38 seconds. He was followed by teammates Cody Strause (fourth, 20:17), Dakota Williford (ninth, 20:40), Dylan Wells (10th, 20:45), Brandon Scogin (13th, 21:28), Brayden Babin (16th, 22:00) and Bryce Moore (24th, 22:52).

Helm cruised to the victory in her two-mile race, winning in 13:45. She was followed by teammates Katelynn Helm (second, 14:22), Bailee Click (16th, 16:08), Victoria Welch (17th, 16:10), Draven Crochet (19th, 16:22), Mackenzie Davis (27th, 17:20) and Adriana Francis (31st, 17:58).
