BRIDGE CITY — The Bridge City Lady Cardinals fought first-place Hardin-Jefferson down to the wire in District 22-4A volleyball action Tuesday night but the Lady Hawks escaped with a 20-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-13, 15-8 victory at Cardinal Gym .

Rylee Oceguera (1-7 in district) led the Lady Cardinals at the net, finishing with 12 kills. Aspen Daniels and Carissa Slaughter had seven kills apiece while Hannah Wiegreffe had six and Aleah McClanahan four.

Waverle Cooper notched 23 assists while Oceguera had 12 and Peyton Trapp put together four aces.

The Lady Cardinals will host LC-M Friday. The Lady Bears (4-4 in district) evened their 22-4A mark Tuesday by downing the Lumberton Lady Raiders 22-25, 25-22, 25-20, 20-25, 15-10.
