NWS Lake Charles tropical weather update: 400 PM 10.8.18

PRESS RELEASE — Michael has been upgraded to a hurricane and is expected to emerge into the southeast Gulf this evening.  Michael is forecasted to move through the eastern Gulf and become a major hurricane on Tuesday.  The expected landfall of Hurricane Michael will be over the Florida panhandle on Wednesday.

Locally, no inland impacts are expected.  But Michael will bring increasing easterly winds across the northern Gulf.  Tides will be 1-2 feet above normal, and minor coastal flooding is expected at high tide late this afternoon and late tonight.  Minor coastal flooding is also anticipated late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night.
