Lady Tigers zip past Lady Cardinals in 3

BRIDGE CITY – Showing why they look like the preseason favorite to win District 22-4A, the Silsbee Lady Tigers dominated the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 25-15, 25-22, 25-13 in volleyball action at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers (2-0 in district) used a 14-4 run to pull away in Game One then fought off the Lady Cardinals (0-2 in district) in Game Two and then totally controlled Game Three to snag the victory.

The Lady Tigers piled up 41 kills while the Lady Cardinals totaled 27.

The Lady Tigers spread the wealth around.

Emery Maze paced the Silsbee attack with 10 kills while Dakota Matthews and Brandis Bass added nine apiece. Pressley Alaniz had five kills for the Lady Tigers while T’nya Irvin added four.

Aspen Daniels led the Lady Cardinals with six kills. Rylee Oceguera and Carissa Slaughter each had five kills while Hannah Wiegreffe added four.

Kennedy Sam had 13 service points and three kills for the Lady Tigers. Maze served up 11 points to go along with four aces while Kanisha Lockett contributed nine points and an ace.

Waverlee Cooper had six service points for the Lady Cardinals. Kyndall Harrison had five points and an ace while Peyton Trapp and Aleah McClanahan each had service points.

The Lady Cardinals will look to bounce back Friday when they visit Hardin-Jefferson while the Lady Tigers return home to host West Orange-Stark.
