K.J. Miller nabs nice honor for Mary-Hardin Baylor after two big TDs

BELTON, Texas – University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football players Markeith Miller and K. J. Miler have been honored by the American Southwest Conference as Players of the Week for their performances in the Cru’s 91-7 victory over Albright College on Saturday. Markeith was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week and K.J. took Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Markeith, a senior running back from Garland High School, broke his own UMHB single-game record with six rushing touchdowns against the Lions. Miller had five of those scores in the first half and finished with 97 rushing yards on a game-high 21 carries despite sitting out most of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter. He shares Offensive Player of the Week honors with Hardin-Simmons running back Jaquan Hemphill.

K.J., a sophomore kick returner/wide receiver from West Orange Stark High School, had a 65-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Cru. He averaged 62.5 yards per punt return on two returns and also added two receptions for 69 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown catch.

The Cru set ASC records for points, total touchdowns and rushing touchdowns in Saturday’s victory. UMHB (1-0) will now open ASC play with a 6 pm kickoff at Sul Ross State (0-1) this Saturday in Alpine.
