Single vehicle crash knocks out power

Over 500 Entergy customers living in the Cove area of Orange spent most of Wednesday night in the dark.

According to witnesses on scene, the driver of a Dodge Durango at approximately 9:40 p.m. traveling in the 1100 block of Dupont Drive in Orange said he fell asleep and lost control of his vehicle crashing into a utility pole.

The impact of the crash broke one pole in half and left utility lines dangling in the air with residents in the dark.

First Responders from Orange Fire Department arrived on scene and assessed the patient but he refused medical treatment.

Entergy Crews quickly arrived on the scene, disconnected the power and begin repairs on the damaged equipment.

No further injuries were reported from this incident.
