Press Release — Beaumont Police Traffic Investigators have located the next of kin and positively identified the fatality victim from Sunday, September 2, 2018.  The victim was identified as  Reginald Allen Coleman, 46, of Vidor.  Investigators located the driver of the truck that that struck Coleman and charges are pending.

Sunday, September 02, 2018 at 1:16 am, a Beaumont police officer was entering IH-10 westbound from Pine Street and noticed a large amount of debris in the roadway as he topped the on ramp. A white male was laying on the shoulder of the roadway wearing a traffic vest. The officer stopped his patrol unit and attempted to contact the subject as he was approaching, but got no response. As he got closer he could see the subject appeared to be deceased.  The traffic unit responded and from the initial investigation it appears the subject was riding his bicycle west on IH-10 and was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle that continued west after impact. The victim has been identified but next of kin has not been notified.  We are in the early stages of the investigation.
