Final Update: All Eastbound Traffic Lanes of Interstate 10 in Jefferson County have Reopened

FINAL UPDATE: At this time, all eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 in Jefferson County have reopened following an earlier crash involving a vehicle fire. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area.

All westbound traffic lanes remain closed due to an earlier crash.  All westbound lanes will remain closed until the crash investigation has been completed by DPS Troopers.  Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route.

UPDATE: For clarification,  the Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating two separate crashes on the Interstate in Jefferson County.

The initial crash occurred in the westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near Gator County.  The second crash involves a vehicle fire and occurred in the eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near Gator County.

Additional information will be released as information is received.

UPDATE:At this time, all eastbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10, near Gator Country, are closed due to a multiple vehicle crash.

DPS Troopers are in route to a multiple vehicle crash in the eastbound side of the Interstate.  The crash involves an 18-wheeler and passenger vehicle.  At this time, the passenger vehicle is fully engulfed by fire.

Motorists are urged to find an alternate travel route.  It is unclear as to when the Interstate will reopen to traffic.

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 11:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10, near Gator Country, in Jefferson County.

At this time, Troopers are in route to the scene and there are reported injuries.

All westbound traffic lanes of Interstate 10 are closed due to the crash.  The roadway will remained closed for an undetermined amount of time.

Motorists are urged to to find an alternate travel route.
