ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats snared a couple big wins early on in their very own Orangefield Tournament Thursday morning.

The Lady Bobcats held off a big Port Arthur Memorial team 25-22, 26-24 after defeating Beaumont Kelly 25-19, 25-19 earlier in the day.Against Memorial, the Lady Bobcats took off to big leads of 12-4 and 17-10 but the Lady Titans fought all the way back to get to within 20-19. However, the Lady Bobcats closed with five of the final eight points to hang on.

Game Two was nip-and-tuck throughout. The Lady Bobcats grabbed a 24-22 lead late only to see the Lady Titans tie it at 24-24. Orangefield responded as standout hitter Bailee Click had a kill and served up the match with an ace.

Click led the Lady Bobcats with 11 kills while added seven points and an ace.

Faith Fregia had six kills, three points and an ace. Devany Crain posted two kills, seven points and an ace. Mackenzie Davis had five points, an ace and a kill while Adriana Francis added two points and two kills.

The tournament will wrap up on Saturday as teams are competing in pool play.

Other teams in the tournament include West Orange-Stark, Anahuac, Kelly, Tarkington, Evadale, Hull-Daisetta, Kirbyville and East Chambers.
