VFW Auxiliary Garage Sale

Orange VFW Auxiliary Post 2775 will host their fall garage sale on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the VFW Hall on Highway 87 North(5303 N. 16th St) from 7 am until 2 pm.  Vendors will be able to set up on Friday, October 12th from 5 to 8 pm.  Rental for tables and/or space is $10 each.  Reservations can be made by sending a check for the proper amount to: MARY SNAPP; 29 SANDRA LANE; ORANGE, TX 77632.  For further information contact Mary between 10 am and 5 pm at 409-658-5423

Blue Star Gold Star mother’s search

Orange Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2775 Auxiliary is looking for Orange County Blue Star and/or Gold Star Mothers.  The Auxiliary President and Americanism Chairman are hoping to compile a list for an upcoming recognition program at a later date.  All information will be kept in strictest confidence.  If you fall under one of these categories, please either call or email the information to one of the following…we would be glad to take the information over the phone or however convenient.  Please contact one of the following by August 31, 2018 so we may update our records.

Special Angels Rodeo Link Sale

The Special Angels Rodeo annual sack lunch sale will be Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Farmers Mercantile. This year’s sale will be a little different because you will have the option of a link or boudain. Sack lunches will be $8 each and will include a link or boudain, chips, drink, and a dessert. Extra links or boudain will cost $4 each. Will be served on a bun or tortilla per your choice. “Getting Better” Grief Group

Best Hospice Care of Texas is holding the “Getting Better” grief group starting at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 – Tuesday, August 28. It will take place at Meadows Church of Christ located at 9195 Dishman Road in Beaumont.

Participants for Scrapbook Study Wanted
If you are 18 years of age or older, you can help The Portal top Texas History improve the way it digitize scrapbooks by participating in a research study examining how patrons prefer scrapbooks to be digitized and represented online. Participants will engage in a paper prototyping exercise that will last no longer than one hour. Those who complete a study session will receive a Portal to Texas History t-shirt (valued at $10) in appreciation of their participation. Parenting Class

Pumpkins and Pearls Fundraising Gala

Wells of Agape is hosting the Pumpkin and Pearls fundraising gala from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. Early Bird Tickets will be sold through August 20. John Clarke of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Orange, will once again, on Wed., Aug. 15, entertain the members of Golden K Kiwanis and their friends with a 20-minute video, “A Rock and Roll Quiz from the ’50’s and ’60’s.” If you want, wear your poodle skirts, penny loafers, saddle oxfords, letter sweaters/jackets, headbands, Dippitydo, and Brylcream!  It will be a cool and rockin’ good time! Clarke’s wife, Jeanette, will assist her husband.  Meet us on Wed., Aug. 15, at 9:30 a.m. at the Orange Salvation Army facility, corner of MLK and Strickland (also known as Hwy. 90).  Guests are always welcomed, so come and enjoy a cup of Joe.

Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas invites you to The Not So Newlywed Game. This event begins at 6 p.m. Celebrity couples are from Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange counties. Funds raised will be used to support the ongoing, critical need for mental, emotional and behavioral health services in our community. By sponsoring this event, you will be supporting Samaritan Counseling Center of Southeast Texas in removing the financial barriers that keep many from seeking the help they desperately need. Back to School Event

Teens Making a Difference is hosting a back to school event from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 at Lions Den Park in Orange. $5 haircuts from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Activities will include face painting, 7 on 7 football tournament, waterslides, bounce houses, and valley ball.

Crochet Class

Crochet Class at 6:30 p.m. at Orange First Church of the Nazarene, 3810 M.L.K. Jr. Drive in Orange. The class is in the Dining Room behind the church. (Left side of the building)

Please bring a skein of Sports Weight yarn and a G hook. We are working on squares to be assembled into an afghan. You may keep your squares or donate them back. Donated squares will be assembled and donated to a local charity in December.
