PRESS RELEASE — Hope everyone had a good week. Not too bad here until Friday. Let’s see what’s going on.

911 Operator, Bobbie Smith walked outside the Sheriff’s Office and noticed a small figure in the road a block away. Turned out, it was a three year old child who was unattended. The child was almost at the Loop here in Newton and it was almost dark. Bobbie and Chief Jackson retrieved the child. Mom called the Sheriff’s Office and reported the child missing a short time later. Good job for being so observant. You a hero again!

We had a big theft on County Road 4045. The thief that broke in the victim’s house took everything. I’m talking pots, pans, sheets and food. They also got a new Holland side by side, camo 4 seater. There was a 4 x 4 Honda 4-wheeler, green in color also taken. I can’t offer a cash reward but I will offer a get out of jail card free. I need yall’s help.

Dogs, dogs, dogs. They are taking up so much of our time. If you own dogs, keep them home and take care of them.

Received 911 call about a car wreck. Two ladies. Nobody hurt in the accident. However, one of the gals assaulted the other after the accident. Trooper Dunn handled it. Got harry for a second.

I lost a couple of friends last week. Count our blessings every day. We never know when we will be called home.

Gotta Go. Thought for the week: “Nothing ruins a Friday more than the realization that it’s actually Tuesday”. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
