Volleyball: OF, BC fall to Mid-County teams in season openers

ORANGEFIELD — The Orangefield Lady Bobcats fought hard but fell to the Nederland Lady Bulldogs in five games 23-25, 25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 15-13 Tuesday night at Bobcat Gym.

Bailee Click paced the Lady Bobcats at the net with 15 kills. Devany Crain notched 27 digs, five kills and an ace. Faith Fregia had 23 digs and seven kills. Mackenenzie Davis had a strong overall match with 21 assists, 12 digs, three kills and an ace while Lily Saucedo posted 26 digs and two kills.

Destyn Miguez notched 35 digs for the Lady Bulldogs. Freshman Kamren Savarino claimed 19 assists. Meg Sheppard had 12 kills and 14 digs while Karley McGill added nine kills and three blocks.

BRIDGE CITY — The Port Neches-Groves Rock-A-Noos toppled the Bridge City Lady Cardinals 25-19, 25-8, 25-11 in the season opener for both sqwuads at Cardinal Gym Tuesday night.

Elizabeth Bolyard had 10 kills and a block for PN-G while Kaitlyn Gil had 18 points and nine kills for the defending District 22-5A champions.
