Man leads police on chase from Lake Charles to Vinton

PRESS RELEASE — On 08-04-18 at 1:40am a Lake Charles Police officer attempted to make a traffic stop of a vehicle that had run a red light at the intersection of Enterprise Blvd. and Prien Lake road. The driver of the vehicle a 2008 Mazda 6 white in color refused to pull over for the officer instead leading officers on a pursuit.
The pursuit lead officers through Westlake, Sulphur and on to Vinton. The driver of the vehicle finally crashed the vehicle in the 6000 block of Stewart Rd. in Vinton La. The subject attempted flee on foot after crashing the vehicle but was taken into custody by officers.
The driver identified as 43 year old Shane Earl Hext has been charged with:
Aggravated flight from an Officer, Resisting an officer with force and possession of drug paraphernalia.
No injuries were reported.
Officer Samuel Clouse was the arresting officer.
