PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 6:15 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on FM 105 in Jasper County.  The crash occurred near the Jasper-Orange county line.

Initial reports indicate that a 2000 Ford Mustang was traveling southbound on FM 105.  As the driver approached a curve, he began to pass another vehicle.  The Ford successfully passed the other vehicle, but was traveling at an unsafe speed as he entered the curve.  As the vehicle traveled off the road to the right, the driver over-corrected and veered back across both traffic lanes of FM 105.  The vehicle continued off the roadway and struck several trees.

The driver, 25-year-old Joshua Armstrong of Vidor, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

All information is preliminary as Troopers work to determine the exact factors that contributed to this crash.

Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in the area of the crash.

There are no additional details to be released at this time.
