Anger Management Classes

Wells of Agape is holding Anger Management Classes from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, at Life Church Orange located at 18389 Hwy. 62 in Orange (near State Hwy. 62 and Hwy. 105 intersection) Requirement to receive a Certificate of Completion is $30 per person, cash only. Must be paid prior to first class. One must attend all three Tuesday classes to receive the certificate. To register or more information, Call Donna Wells at 4099-221-5425. OC Historical Society meeting

The Orange County Historical Society will have it’s third quarterly program by touring the Cormier Museum in Orange-Field on August 7th starting at 6:30 p.m. The community that became Orangefield made history when oil was discovered there some hundred years ago. The museum has done an amazing job in recreating the boom town that sprang up as a result of this event. Relics from this period full two large buildings. Paul Cormier’s toy collection would fill a medium sized toy store. This is an exhibit that you must see. The museum is located on Hwy 105 just East of the Orangefield school. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The public is invited.

 

Special Angels Rodeo Link Sale

The Special Angels Rodeo annual sack lunch sale will be Wednesday, Aug. 22 at Farmers Mercantile. This year’s sale will be a little different because you will have the option of a link or boudain. Sack lunches will be $8 each and will include a link or boudain, chips, drink, and a dessert. Extra links or boudain will cost $4 each. Will be served on a bun or tortilla per your choice. Delivery available on pre-orders of 10 or more dinners. Fax your pre-order to 409-883-8476. Pre-orders are accepted until Wednesday, August 15. The sale will be located at Farmer’s Mercantile on 702 West Division Ave. in Orange.

“Getting Better” Grief Group

Best Hospice Care of Texas is holding the “Getting Better” grief group starting at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 – Tuesday, August 28. It will take place at Meadows Church of Christ located at 9195 Dishman Road in Beaumont.

 

Hand Quilting Demonstration

Participants for Scrapbook Study Wanted
If you are 18 years of age or older, you can help The Portal top Texas History improve the way it digitize scrapbooks by participating in a research study examining how patrons prefer scrapbooks to be digitized and represented online. Participants will engage in a paper prototyping exercise that will last no longer than one hour. Those who complete a study session will receive a Portal to Texas History t-shirt (valued at $10) in appreciation of their participation. Texas Master Naturalists training

The Sabine Neches Chapter will be conducting a training session this fall for persons interested in becoming Texas Master Naturalists.  The program is open to all persons interested in learning and playing an active part in conservation. Volunteers will receive a minimum of 40 hours of basic training from educators and specialists from places such as universities, natural resource agencies, nature centers and museums. Training topics include interpretation and management of natural resources, ecological concepts, eco-regions in Texas and natural systems management.  Interested persons can visit https://txmn.org/sabine for signup information.

Run/Walk Series

Sea Rim Striders is holding it’s 2018 Summer Run/Walk Series. Volunteers are needed with prize drawings at end of summer for those who sign up to help! Gatorade, water, pizza and fruit at the finish line for each 5K Run/Walk. Free and open to the public. Schedule for events are listed below:

Southeast Texas Disaster Assistance and Crisis Response Services through Region 5 Education Service Center is offering assistance with identifying needs and resources as well as referrals for available disaster assistance resources and crisis counseling for those struggling in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. Pumpkins and Pearls Fundraising Gala

Wells of Agape is hosting the Pumpkin and Pearls fundraising gala from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 29. Early Bird Tickets will be sold through August 20. Early Bird tickets will be $50 and Regular tickets will be $60. This event will be adults only. The guest speaker of the night will be Mayor Larry Spears Jr. Dress code for the event is “after 5” attire. The event will take place at The Garden District located at 7536 Highway 87 N. in Orange. Bring the kids and grandkids to share in preserving family history at 10 a.m. – 12 noon and 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. July 21 at Eunice R. Benckenstein Library and Archive. $25 per family for materials fee.

Crochet Class

Crochet Class at 6:30 p.m. at Orange First Church of the Nazarene, 3810 M.L.K. Jr. Drive in Orange. The class is in the Dining Room behind the church. (Left side of the building)

Please bring a skein of Sports Weight yarn and a G hook. We are working on squares to be assembled into an afghan. You may keep your squares or donate them back. Donated squares will be assembled and donated to a local charity in December.

Elizabeth’s Hidden Treasures and Craft Me Crazy will sell plate lunches on July 27 at 2209 Texas Ave. in Bridge City. Red beans with sausage and rice, cornbread and bottled water for $8. Stories from Cowboys of Color

Stark Museum of Art invites you to Stories from Cowboys of Color. Discussion begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 28th. Reception and book signing will follow at 3 p.m. The event is located at the Stark Museum of Art. The museum is located at 712 Green Ave. in Orange. Western wear is encouraged.
