“Rumble on the River” was quite a success over the weekend as many fans of all ages gathered at the City of Orange Boat Ramp at the event that was presented by the Orange Convention & Visitors Bureau and TX H20 Racing.
One of the racers had a little area flair as well as Sulphur (LA.) Ricky Hinch was involved in one of the races.
“I definitely had a fun run on the water,” said Hinch. “The waves were choppy and you just try to keep moving forward and change along with the waves.”
The drivers definitely get the most out of the powerful jet skis.
“It’s a challenge because the skis have so much power,” said Hinch. “You’re talking about navigating the water on jet skis that have 150 horsepower.”
The Orange stop is just one of several that Hinch participates in throughout the season.
“There were six competitors in my class and all of us are really good friends,” said Hinch. “When we’re out there, we’re careful because there’s not a lot of room and you’re cruising on the average of 60 to 65 miles per hour.”
Over 50 racers from Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Georgia participated in the field.
