All clear given in bomb threat at Vidor shopping center

A suspicious package located at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday the 800 block of North Main in the Crossroads Shopping Center in Vidor lead to the evacuation of the shopping center as a precautionary measure.

Responding Vidor Police officers located the device and verified that it was a possible explosive device.

Orange County ESD 1 and the Bureau Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Office were contacted and the shopping center was evacuated as a precaution, according to a press release from Vidor Police Department.

Agents were able to determine the device was inert.

An ‘All Clear’ was given at approximately 5:15 p.m. when the device was rendered safe. Everyone was then allowed back in the shopping center.

The Vidor Police Department would like to thank everyone for their cooperation during this time period.

An investigation is on-going.
