Vinton officer rammed during pursuit, chase ended in Orange

The Vinton Police Department received information that a vehicle stolen on June 28, 2018 in Lake Charles Louisiana, which was taken from the Prien Lake Mall was possibly in the Vinton area. At approximately 3:07 am Wednesday morning a Vinton Police Officer located the vehicle travelling north on LA 3063.

The Officer activated his emergency lights and siren, which the driver ignored and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The suspect eventually made it to Interstate 10 traveling westbound and entered the City of Orange at speeds of 100 mph.

The suspect traveled down several streets in Orange eventually turning on a dead end road in the area of North Street in Orange where he turned around and rammed a marked Vinton Police unit. Due to the impact the police unit was disabled and the suspect was able to evade capture.

The Officer was unharmed in the incident. The vehicle was occupied by a white male and white female with brown hair who appear to be in their early to mid 20’s. The stolen vehicle is a 2007 GMC Sierra tan with Louisiana license plate number Y075864 possibly with front end damage.

Vinton Assistant Chief Dalfrey stated, “If the vehicle is spotted the public is urged to not approach the driver and contact their local law enforcement agency”. The suspect is facing several charges in Louisiana as well as Texas. This case is currently being investigated by the Vinton Police Department, Lake Charles Police Department and the Orange Police Department.
