Reverend Branch appointed WO Alderman

Reverend Randy Branch, a citizen of Orange for sixty eight years and current minister of the Wesley United Methodist Church at 401 North 37th Street, was sworn in as Alderman by City Attorney Rex Peveto during the West Orange City Council meeting on Monday, July 9, 2018.

Branch will serve the remainder of the term until May 2019 vacated by Carl K. Thibodeaux, R.Ph who has recently been appointed Municipal Judge for the City of West Orange.

In other news McDonald announced a public hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at 5:05 PM to close out TxCDBG Program Grant 7216480.

According to the Texas Department of Agriculture website the TxCDBG Program is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development providing federal Community Development Block Grant funds directly to states, which, in turn, provide the funds to small, rural cities with populations less than 50,000.

The primary objective of the Community Development Block Grant program is to develop viable communities by providing decent housing and suitable living environments, and expanding economic opportunities principally for persons of low- to moderate-income.

Also in the news, the next WO Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 13, 2018 at 5 p.m.
