There is a name which resonates the love of Orange, the Mustangs, family and God.

The name is Larry Spears Jr.

Spears, current mayor of Orange, has always searched for solutions to improve Orange since the moment this reporter/editor first met him.

One Saturday morning, Spears, with some friends, were at Lions Den Park hosting a ‘kid’s event’ as he referred to it.

It was giving back to the community, the same community he loves, that lead to him run for Council Member At Large Position 6. It was a position he won twice before running for mayor.

“I want to help the youth of the area,” Spears said in a previous interview. “I want to see my hometown improve and be the city it can be.”

The statement remains true.

In the short time Spears has held the position as Mayor, morale in the city is showing signs of improvement as well.

“Being on a board or the council is an opportunity to be involved,” Spears said during the same interview. “Be a part of the solution.”

Spears began his journey by serving on the Board of Adjustment for two years before running for council.

Through it all, Spears continued to put the youth of the community first. It has been and continues to be his mission to promote the great citizens of Orange.

And while his wife, Trisha, is a strong supporter of him, it is easy to see his biggest supporter is his sister, FeLica.

FeLica, a woman as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside, helped campaign for her brother and all the while one could see the love and respect she has for Spears.

Larry, you may only have been Mayor for a couple of weeks, but I look forward to seeing the positive effect on Orange.

Let’s continue to make Orange better…
