Buddy Poppy drive a success

To The Leader

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post & Auxiliary 2775 recently had their annual Buddy Poppy Campaign.  The post and auxiliary wish to express their gratitude and thanks to the businesses that allowed the post to use their locations and to the public for their generosity and patriotism.  Despite some bad weather showing up, a shortage of workers to cover the entire weekend and so many people still struggling after their devastation from Hurricane Harvey, the drive was once again a big success.

There were 26 members and two volunteers that worked…some two hours, others much longer.

Each year, the members hand out the Buddy Poppy to any and all free of charge.  Of course as a Campaign, this is the annual fundraiser, so donations are gratefully accepted.  The proceeds are split between the post and auxiliary and go into their restricted RELIEF FUND for use in local assistance to Veterans and their families, members, our VA Clinic and Hospital support and patriotic programs.

The BUDDY POPPY is never sold…it is given freely, and often children are delighted to get a ‘flower’.  This past year was a hard one for so many who lost so much but the public still came through for our Veterans.  Thank you all!
